Red face Regarding Active Roleplay

Hello!

I'm new to Guild Wars, but am an avid RP'er who's had a love for it for years. I wondered if there was any RP community in Guild Wars and if it's still active. If so, how would I get in touch with it?

Thank you for any pointers!

Because of Guild Wars's instanced nature, it doesn't really foster role-play...thus that's a really small niche of players. However, they do exist. Aside from randomly amusing people in outposts, the only way to really get into it is to join a role-play guild. I actually saw one recruiting in game not too long ago, but your best bet is to search our Guild Recruitment section (where a few appear to have been recruiting over the past year or so; but try some of your own searches, as our forum is keyword-finicky). You can also try posting a request in the Looking for a Guild subsection (where it appears someone else is looking for the same -- maybe you could join forces).

Good luck!

I have met a few people who are in active "RP" guilds, Star Jewel is correct, I would search in Lions Arch, Kamadan, Kaineng, or Ascalon City saying "Looking for Role Playing Guild PM (Private Message) me"

You could see if these guys are still active, http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild:Forever_Knights have been in districts with them during festivals and they are a fun bunch.

Other than what's been said already(Forever Knights would have been my first suggestion), you might want to check this section Looking for a Roleplaying Guild/Group? which is there for that specific purpose

Good luck on your rp! I only do it with a friend but we always stumble on the limitations of this game which seems to totally kill any will to roleplay...
So I really hope it will go better for you

i keep getting accused of rping and the first time i was accused of rping i was like, wtf is rping? the person said talking in chat like i was speaking for my toon (character). really, duh i thought that was what the whole point of making a role playing character was about.

when i played wow some time ago i used to run around stormwind with a shovel telling people how i was going to clean up this one horse town. also i would approach players i didn't even know and tell them "wow! i can't believe i found you. you are <insert name here> and standing in front of me!" i would give them time to respond with huh or wha, and then hit them with "you're my hero! i'm ettacandy your number one fan! i have followed and heard others talk about your adventures!". then i would wait and watch them start bragging to their buddies how they have a fan club of one. i would then approach the person they are talking to and ask them how long they had been their sidekick.

i don't call that rping. i call it clowning around.

i think clowning around as you put it is a good way to go!
my mates and me have only just started but having a laugh with it is one of the reasons we do this. also when we feel like it we play according to 'the holy book'.
one of us has the book,we enter a mission and at random times the book is consulted.
whatever the book say,we must all do ingame eg one of the 180 rules says 'remove all thy armour and attack your enemy' or 'as thy enemy attacks, commence to dancing'.
very silly but very funny if you like that sort of thing! cheers
